Arts & Craft Resource Page

Art and crafts are a great way for children to express their ideas and feelings in a way that doesn’t feel like ‘learning’. Pyjama Angels can encourage this expression by bringing art and craft media to their sessions (Be sure to get permission for any “messy” activities).

The works produced by the children are an expression of their ideas. Children and young people often use art as a way of communicating how they see the world and relate to people around them. The works offer adults the chance to ask questions, which could lead to conversation, further art work, or perhaps the chance to record the ideas and feelings in writing (The Pyjama Angel can offer to do the writing part).

SCULPTURE AND CRAFT

FIRE BREATHING DRAGON CRAFT (AGES 4-7)

Bring a fire breathing dragon to life with this adorable little craft! This simple project only needs some old toilet paper role, tissue paper, poms poms, and most importantly, googly eyes.

PAPER PLATE SEWING CRAFT (AGES 7-12)

These cute little insect sewing projects are a great way to begin teaching children how to sew. The best part of this project is that the craft is adaptable for kids of all ages so everyone can get involved in this one.

ORIGAMI FACES (AGES 9-16)

Get really crafty with this cool and quirky project! The creative little ones can try and make an origami version of all their favourite people, book characters or super heroes.

ORIGAMI CORNER BOOKMARKS CRAFT (AGES 9-17)

Here at The Pyjama Foundation, we aabsolutely love our books and love reading them even more. This clever and cute little DIY craft activity means you can always pick up exactly where you left off and never lose your place.

DRAWING

DRAWING IDEAS FOR CHILDREN OF ALL AGES (AGES 4-17)

It’s obvious that kids like to draw, but sometimes a stack of blank paper and pencils just doesn’t cut it. This resource will provide drawing inspiration for every age group.

PAINTING

Be sure to get Carer permission, protect any property and clothing and clean up thoroughly. Painting is similar to drawing but allows for easier exploration colour mixing.

MICROWAVE PUFFY PAINT (AGES 4-9)

Microwave puffy paint is a fantastic way to combine art and science! Watch the artwork puff up and grow in a matter of seconds.

ROCK PAINTING (AGES 3-7)

This arts and craft activity means you and your little one might have to explore the great outdoors for a while. The kiddies can let their imagination run wild and create ANY type of rock pet. Create anything from lions to lady bugs to even fish!

WATER COLOUR SALT PAINTING (AGES 5-14)

This one is sure to be a hit with the younger creative geniuses. Panting with the salt is like magic – it creates intriguing and interesting textures and patterns.

MULTIMEDIA

Using information and communication technologies to create art allows children to feel in control and often build skills transferable into their futures. Media for this art includes: photography, film/video, comics, computer generated effects

WEBSITES TO CREATE YOUR OWN COMIC (AGES 8-17)

Are you working with a reluctant reader? Why not create your own comic book for them to treasure and read over and over again?

TEACHING KIDS TO MASTER PHOTOGRAPHY (AGES 8-14)

Children seem to have a natural affinity for photography. Why not harness this desire and help them take beautiful shots? We love this resource.

Stay in the loop!
