Volunteers Awarded for
Exceptional Work Supporting
Foster Children
2020 has thrown a spanner in the works for many! For us this means, sadly no face-to-face Pyjama Angel of Year ceremonies. But alas, the show must go on and we would not miss the opportunity to celebrate the hard work and compassion of some of our wonderful volunteers.
Each year we ask our regional coordinators, with the help of their foster carers, to nominate a Pyjama Angel who is doing extraordinary things in their area. We host this event each year to highlight the amazing work of these individuals, while also acknowledging all of our incredible 1,400 volunteers in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.
All of our volunteers go above and beyond to visit their Pyjama Kids weekly, but these special winners have been nominated especially for their giving nature, compassion and dedication.
We received some beautiful words from foster carers, and regional coordinators who work closely with all of these volunteers. We are sharing some of our stand outs below.
We are so grateful for all our wonderful Pyjama Angels. Each day our angels make a huge difference to the lives of kids in care. Congratulations to all of our recipients: Elizabeth Melvin (Brisbane), Liz Jorgenson (Cairns), Dawn Thomas (Townsville), Ian Mason (Sunshine Coast), Wendy List (Gold Coast), Angela Morrison (Melbourne), Maree Pett (Mackay), Erica Stewart (Toowoomba), Ann-Maree Harris & Jenni Chilton (Ipswich) and Jenny Ballard (Wide Bay).
If you think yourself or someone else could make a positive influence on a child in care, please consider applying to become a Pyjama Angel here.
