About Us

The Pyjama Foundation was created to provide children in care with a world full of unlimited opportunity, to create positive relationships, and instil a love of learning.

Our Why

Bronwyn Sheehan OAM, CEO & Founder

Let me tell you about the day my heart was broken into tiny pieces...

It was the day that I met an 18-month-old baby boy who had just entered the foster care system. He had arrived with only a plastic bag of winter clothes in the middle of a Brisbane summer. The winter clothes had been used to hide the bruises on his tiny 18-month-old body. He looked like a frightened little koala bear, clinging onto his new foster mum.

If the eyes are the window to your soul, then this little boy's eyes showed a world of pain.

At that moment I thought what can I do to help? How was this happening in my own community?

I had read to my own three children since they were newborn babies and saw how this set a foundation for their learning, and I wanted the same for all kids in care. It was from this belief that The Pyjama Foundation was brought to life.
